Rosalie sees the past in pictures. History is inked into her beige skin, tattooed across her mind until all she can think about is the past. Rosalie feels every knife, every stone, every word hurled at her face, a third party viewer in the visions that unfold beyond her eyes. Cassandra is called a Prophetic Seer. And Rosalie Edson is called a Historical Seer.

She believes no one can see her; Sirius Black believes he's doomed, as well. For months, the two teenagers saw each other as rivals, as enemies, as nuisances. But they are real people, marked into the history books: kids, war heroes, fighters, children, eventual lovers.

ACT SIX, 1981.

Back in 1976, Sirius Black is done. His family tore him apart and left him in the forest, undefended. And so he ran. He ran until he couldn't stop, ran to the only people who he knew loved him.

To this day, he still doesn't know if Regulus loves him. His baby brother is now with his "friends", parading around with a false sense of protection as his parents make deals with the devil. Regulus is doomed, tied to the family tree forever. Sirius burned off.

He's always liked fire.

But James can't understand his pain. James Potter — his brother, his life — with his perfect parents. Sirius loves Euphemia and Fleamont Potter almost as much as James does, but there is this growing envy and bitterness that does not leave him. He needs it to dissolve, so he shoves it deep inside his clawed heart, where no one will see it.

Peter understands his pain, but he's far away, eyes glassy, demeanour shaky. And Sirius can't touch Remus with his problems, after what he did. He weaponised one of his only friends, and Sirius lives with the guilt forever and forever as Remus carries on with the pain and their tattered friendship (no one noticed the divide but the two of them).

Sirius is hiding, and none of them see him for who he is: a lost, destroyed toy soldier with a poisoned family.

Rosalie Edson is done. Her loved ones are surrounded by flames; she can't save them no matter how hard she tries, no matter how much her visions plague her life. She burns her hands, cries tears, and begs.

The flames won't die, She'll plead for them to leave her scarred flesh, but they tear and rip and sizzle at her skin, begging for her to succumb. Wrapped around in their own fires of tragedy, Rosalie's friends fail to notice — they do notice, just not as much as they should. They can't see the young woman bruising herself over and over again to keep them alive for one more minute. Rosalie is their glue, the extinguisher of the anger, the envy, the hate, the destruction, the pain. And she is completely used. Done. She is tired of the lack of sleep from the visions that relentlessly plague her daydreams and nightmares.

Visions visions visions. Rosalie wants them gone. Why is she the messenger from the past to the future? Rosalie doesn't want her "gift"; she wants her curse and her freakish abilities gone. She wants the image of her father to fade away from her mind, because they are each other.

And she hates it. Rosalie stares into the mirror and sees him. Cruel and reckless and cold and seething, only her warmth might be the only thing that makes Rosalie see Rosalie and not Joon.

When Rosalie and Sirius met, both growing and changing, they immediately despised each other, forming a childish rivalry. Rosalie believed Sirius was an arrogant jerk, and Sirius assumed Rosalie was a stuck-up prick. But as they both change, both together and apart, they start fighting for their happy ending. Because no matter what, Sirius Black will never be useless, and Rosalie will ever be used by her visions. Never again. Never.

They will fight their wars, their plagues, their demons. And they will win.

Even if it means doing it together. Rosalie can see the past, but she can't see the future. And this future will wash over them all, like the waves of the ocean; only time will tell if it is calm or stormy.

notes holy shit. here we are, three years later. if you read burning three years ago — which you probably haven't — then that's when i created rosalie, as a clichéd cousin of lily evans (and kind of a bitch. she was very unlikable). now, i'm sure she's so much more likeable (i hope).

as for the plot, it's extremely slow. it'll be many chapters before we get to the actual underlying plot. so uh please be patient 🙏🙏 as for rosalie saying she'll never be used again ... sure buddy 🤗🤗
